Alabama Tight End Enters Transfer Portal

The Crimson TIde's tight end depth took a hit on the final day of the transfer portal for Alabama, with reserve tight end Ty Lockwood entering the transfer portal.

Lockwood, a 6-foot-5, 239-pound tight end from Independence High School, is from Thompson's Station, Tennessee. He was a four-star prospect in the class of 2023 and ranked as the No. 14 overall tight end in the 2023 recruiting class. Lockwood committed to the Crimson Tide after de-committing from Ohio State in August 2022.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

During his time at Alabama, he redshirted during his first season after appearing in only two games for the Crimson Tide. In year two, he appeared in five games. His only catch came in Alabama's victory over Mercer, where he caught one pass for five yards.

Alabama's tight end room took a hit in depth, but still has good bodies in the room, with Josh Cuevas returning for his final season as Alabama's likely top target in that room. At the same time, Danny Lewis Jr. previously entered the transfer portal before withdrawing his name in December. Alabama also returns freshman Jay Lindsey from the 2024 recruiting class.

Alabama added two more bodies in the tight end room in the 2025 recruiting class, with four-star Marshall Pritchett from Georgia and four-star Kaleb Edwards from California.
