Alabama Tight End Opts to Return For Senior Season
Alabama redshirt junior tight end Cam Latu is opting to return for his senior season with the Crimson Tide, according to Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports. Latu finished third in receiving yards for the 2021 Crimson Tide with 410 yards.
Latu started his career with Alabama as an outside linebacker but has found his niche playing tight end. He hauled in 26 receptions for 410 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2021 and scored the only Alabama touchdown in the 2021 National Championship Game.
Latu returns to the Capstone as one of Bryce Young's most reliable targets as Jameson Williams has opted for the the NFL and fellow tight end Jahleel Billingsley opted for the transfer portal.
The former 4-star prospect out of Salt Lake City, Utah burst onto the scenes in 2021 as an ancillary piece of the Alabama offense, he returns to serve a bigger role in 2022 and improve his draft status as a tight end.
His 8 touchdown receptions were tied for second on the team and tied for seventh in the SEC in 2021 as he became on of Young's favorite targets in the redzone.
