Alabama's ace closing pitcher has earned national recognition for his play during the 2025 college baseball season. Carson Ozmer has been named a semifinalist for National Pitcher of the Year, according to a release by the University of Alabama.

Ozmer is one of 16 finalists for the award, presented to the top pitcher in college baseball. Should Ozmer win the award, he would be the first winner in program history for the award created in 2009.

Ozmer has appeared in 28 games so far this year for Alabama, the highest on the team. He was a First-Team All-SEC reliever during his first season in Tuscaloosa with 17 saves. His 17 lead all Division I relievers, and is a program record for the Crimson Tide, surpassing the previous record of 14 in 1991.

He owns a 2.89 ERA and is currently holding opponents to a 1.91 batting average, allowing just 25 hits in 131 at-bats. His 47 strikeouts this season are fourth on the team.

Ozmer has not allowed a run in 22 of 28 outings and struck out at least one batter in 26 of his 28 games.

Finalists for the National Pitcher of the Year Award will be announced on June 4, and the winner will be announced later in June.

Ozmer will have at least one more weekend to showcase his talents in an Alabama jersey as the Crimson Tide will play in a regional next week to start the NCAA baseball tournament.
