Alabama’s Milroe, McLaughlin Shine in Classroom

Forget for now about the snap snafus between them. Here's something that matters more, in all honesty: Alabama center Seth McLaughlin and his quarterback Jalen Milroe were each named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Football Team, the CSC announced Tuesday.

The 2023 Academic All-District Football teams selected by the CSC recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Both McLaughlin and Milroe now advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced Jan. 23, 2024.

CSC Academic All-District Honorees

McLaughlin earned his master’s degree this month and finished with with a 3.625 grade point average in hospitality management. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a perfect 4.000 undergraduate GPA in finance in just under three years.

He was named a semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy in 2023, was selected to the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-District Team, and has been recognized three times on the SEC Academic Honor Roll. 

Milroe got his undergraduate degree in only three years, graduating cum laude and maintained a 3.503 grade point average in management with a concentration in entrepreneurship.

He will begin master’s work this spring with a focus on sports management. Milroe was also named to the President’s List and Dean’s List one time apiece as an undergraduate. He earned a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll twice.
