Alabama EDGE Named Campbell Trophy Nominee
Alabama defensive lineman LT Overton has been named a nominee for the William V. Campbell Trophy, according to a release by the National Football Foundation.

The William V. Campbell Trophy is awarded to the top college football player who has the best combination of academics, leadership, and on-field performance. It is commonly referred to as the "Academic Heisman" and is one of the top awards a college football player can win.
Alabama has produced two Campbell Trophy winners in program history, with historically impressive offensive lineman Barrett Jones winning the award in 2012, and Jalen Milroe winning the award most recently in 2024.
Overton, the Crimson Tide's 2025 nominee, played in all 13 games for Alabama in 2024, totaling 42 tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks, one pass breakup, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery for the Crimson Tide. Overton also led the Crimson Tide in quarterback hurries with nine last season.
Overton transferred to Alabama ahead of the 2024 college football season after spending two seasons with the Texas A&M Aggies. Overton was ranked as a unanimous five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, also selected as a 2022 Under Armour All-American.
He hopes to be a leader for Alabama in 2025 as the Crimson Tide tries to improve on a 9-3 record from 2024, the first time Alabama did not win 10 games in a single season since 2007.
