Former University Alabama cornerback and 1992 national champion, Antonio Langham, joined The Game with Ryan Fowler this week to give his thoughts on the success of the Crimson Tide football season.

Langham was very impressed with the team this year and how dialed in and ready to go they were, despite dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

"For you to stay as focused as this football team did and then to fight through it without having many cases of COVID. To run the whole table and then win it, speaks volumes of coach Saban and the football team," said Langham.

Langham juxtaposed his 2020 Alabama team with the 1992 team that he was apart of. Despite everyone being brought in at different times, they were all on the same page about what they wanted to accomplish as a team. He said that it just doesn't just randomly happen, it takes time, despite everyone coming to the university at different times.

Coach Gene Stallings turned 87 this week, and we were fortunate enough in the interview, to get a funny memory of Stallings from when he coached Langham.

Before Alabama played Tennessee in 1992 Langham made the comments that Alabama "owned Tennessee", and this was taken out of context by the media. Stallings was not happy with the comments made by Langham. Stallings told the team that they were giving the Volunteers bulletin board material, that might motivate them even more.

"His whole thing was don't give them bulletin board material, and he was livid with me about them owning Tennessee. He told me, you better have a heck of a ball game cause they're going to come after you, " said Langham.

One player from this year's team that Langham specifically spoke about, was Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith.

Langham gave praise to the Amite, LA native, and revealed how he would go about trying to keep Smith from racking up a lot of yards and running free in the secondary

"If I was a defensive back and I'm playing him, I gotta give him a lot of looks. Similar to a boxing match. I have to get him off balance, because if he gets you off balance then it's ball game," said Langham.

Langham personally said that he would try and press him because he isn't as big and bulky as a lot of other wide receivers. By keeping Smith in front of him and keeping his hands on him, Langham believes you could have a decent shot at containing him.

Speaking on Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade saying he wanted to matchup on Smith prior to the National Championship, Langham had this to say.

"One lesson you learn as a DB, is not to call a man out if you're not ready, cause 99.9% of them are going to answer the challenge, " said Langham.
