According to On3 Sports, Auburn's Hugh Freeze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

In a statement, the Auburn Tigers program announced the diagnosis was an early form of the disease.

"Recently, Coach Freeze was diagnosed with an early form of prostate cancer. Thankfully, it was detected early and his doctors have advised that it is very treatable and curable," the Auburn statement read. "He will continue his normal coaching duties and responsibilities, and with forthcoming proper treatment, is expected to make a full recovery. Coach Freeze is incredibly appreciative of our medical professionals and has asked that we use his experience as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing and scheduling annual health screenings."

It is the second health scare for Freeze over the last six years. In 2019, Hugh Freeze had surgery after a potentially life-threatening staph infection entered his bloodstream and complicated a herniated disk in his back.

Freeze underwent the surgery while he was the head coach at Liberty, and was "24 hours" from fighting for his life according to a statement he gave to ESPN's Chris Low in 2019.
