Backup Alabama Linebacker Enters Transfer Portal
The Crimson Tide's linebacker depth took a hit on Saturday, with reserve linebacker Sterling Dixon entering the transfer portal according to Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports.
Dixon appeared in three games for Alabama this season and redshirted during the 2024 college football season.
Dixon, a 6-foot-3, 211-pound inside linebacker from Spanish Fort High School in Spanish Fort, Alabama, finished the season with one tackle in Alabama's opening season victory over Western Kentucky.
Dixon was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 23 overall edge player in Alabama's 2024 recruiting class. He chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn and LSU.
Dixon early enrolled and participated in Alabama's bowl preparation ahead of the 27-20 loss to Michigan in the Rose Bowl in the College Football Playoffs.
