Bama Basketball Bounces Bulldogs
Alabama went on the road and snapped its three-game losing streak by defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 105-102 in overtime. The Crimson Tide overcame a second half double-digit lead by the Bulldogs to get a much needed road win. The victory moves Alabama to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in conference play.
Sophomore guard Kira Lewis Jr. led the Crimson Tide by recording a new career-high in points with 37; Lewis Jr. also tallied seven assists and five rebounds. Lewis had the opportunity at the end of regulation to seal the victory for the Tide but failed to do so from the line. John Petty Jr. contributed with 21 points, Javian Davis scored 13, James “Beatle” Bolden scored 11 off the bench and Jaden Shackelford contributed 10 points for the Crimson Tide.
Head Coach Nate Oats was concerned about the Tide matching up with next season’s likely number one overall draft pick Anthony Edwards due to his length, but a combination of Petty Jr., Shackelford and Davis held Edwards to only 14 points in the game. Freshman guard Sahvir Wheeler paced the Bulldogs with 24 points and junior forward Rayshaun Hammonds pitched in with 20 points.
