Bama in the Big Leagues: Alabama Alums Ready to Play in the Postseason
Another regular season has come to a close with two Alabama alums ready to make an appearance in postseason play.
Alex Avila and the Chicago Cubs finished first in the National League Central and will face the Washington Nationals in the National League Division Series beginning Thursday. For the Cubs, it is their third straight postseason appearances.
While the Cubs have a few days to prepare for the Nationals, David Robertson and the New York Yankees face a winner-take-all American League Wild Card Game Tuesday against the Minnesota Twins. The Yankees fell two games shy of winning the AL East but their 91 wins in the regular season ensured home field advantage for Tuesday’s clash.
Speaking of Robertson, the Tuscaloosa native wrapped up the regular season by throwing four scoreless innings and striking out seven batters in four outings against Kansas City, Tampa Bay and Toronto.
As the 2017 regular season goes into the history books, check out how Alabama’s former stars fared this season.
