Bama in the Big Leagues: MLB Returns from All-Star Break
Following the All-Star Break, teams across Major League Baseball resumed regular season play.
For six of Alabama’s former stars in MLB, it was another solid all-around week. Despite a no decision, Jimmy Nelson turned in a quality start Saturday against Philadelphia going 6.2 innings allowing two runs while striking out nine Phillies batters.
Wade LeBlanc earned his fourth win of the season by tossing a scoreless inning against the St. Louis Cardinals to complete the weekend.
For Boston’s Josh Rutledge, his sting on the disabled list could be coming to an end. According to CBSSports.com, Rutledge could begin a rehab assignment soon.
Detroit’s Alex Avila scored the winning run Sunday thanks to Miguel Cabrera’s bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 11th inning Sunday against Toronto.
