Bama in the NBA: Sexton’s Standout Plays And Miller’s Buzzer Beater
Last week in the NBA, two former Crimson Tide players shined for their teams. Here’s a recap of their standout performances and a look at their upcoming schedules.
Colin Sexton (Point Guard, Utah Jazz)
Collin Sexton excelled for the Utah Jazz. On Monday, he scored 24 points, shooting 57% from three-point range, leading Utah to a 135-126 victory over the Chicago Bulls. On Thursday, despite Utah’s 123-100 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Sexton demonstrated his playmaking with seven assists. On Saturday, he scored 23 points on 61.5% shooting from the field, helping Utah to a thrilling 111-110 win against the San Antonio Spurs.
Looking ahead, the Jazz host the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. CT. The Suns, led by stars Devin Booker and Kevin Durant, are second in the Western Conference with an 8-2 record. On Thursday at 8:00 p.m. CT, Utah wraps up its homestand against the Dallas Mavericks, featuring Kyrie Irving and Luka Dončić. The Mavericks currently hold an even 5-5 record. Utah then embarks on a road trip, facing the Sacramento Kings on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. CT, followed by a matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers and sharpshooter James Harden in Inglewood on Sunday at 8:00 p.m. CT.
Brandon Miller (Forward, Charlotte Hornets)
Brandon Miller continues to show why he is a contributor for the Charlotte Hornets. After a tough game on Monday, shooting 3-for-10 in a 114-93 loss to Minnesota, Miller bounced back on Wednesday with 19 points and a buzzer-beating putback against Detroit (108-107). He followed that with a stellar 29-point performance, shooting 63.6% from three in a decisive win over Indiana. Miller closed the week with 22 points and 7 rebounds in an overtime loss to the 76ers (107-105).
This week, the Hornets play in Orlando on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. CT against Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs of the Magic, who are fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 5-6 record. After a few days off, they host Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. CT, then travel to Cleveland to take on Donovan Mitchell and the Cavaliers to end the week.
Stay tuned every Monday for an NBA update!
