Since Alabama’s SEC Championship Game, the hottest item of speculation has been the future of Lane Kiffin.

Reports began Wednesday morning concerning Kiffin’s possible return to the head coaching ranks.

BamaOnline.com’s Charlie Potter analyzed Kiffin’s situation on Southern Fried Sports with Travis Reier.

Potter summarized the reports coming out on Kiffin’s potential to be Houston’s next head coach.

“The initial report from USA Today said he was expected to be hired and that pending a meeting with the school president, who has the final ok, that that would probably be the case, and that’s kind of mirroring what everyone else is saying that it’s not a done deal yet, but that’s the way it’s leaning.” Potter said.

Potter highlighted Kiffin’s desire to become a head coach and the attractiveness of the Houston football program.

“Lane Kiffin wants to be a head coach, and Tom Herman really turned that program around and made it a force.” Potter said.

The BamaOnline.com writer took a look at the futures of other assistants on Alabama’s staff including Jeremy Pruitt and Mario Cristobal.

In terms of replacing Lane Kiffin, Potter surveyed possible replacements for Kiffin at Alabama including Steve Sarkisian and Mike Locksley.
