Alabama Baseball flexed some dominance in its series-opening 9-3 win over the Binghamton Bearcats on Friday. Starting junior right-hander Garrett McMillan (2-0) took over seven consecutive innings for the Tide, leaving room for some offensive explosion in the form of 13 total hits from Alabama.

"(McMillan) gave us seven great innings of just pounding the strike zone," said Alabama coach Brad Bohannon

"Awesome tempo and presence, and just he was ahead in the count. I thought he was outstanding and we made some strides, offensively, today."

Starting RHP Garrett McMillan just stumped the Bearcats for his seven innings of starting play on Friday. One of the best starting performances for Bama all year, McMillan only allowed two hits while recording seven strikeouts with just one run being earned across 23 batters.

But once Bohannon pulled McMillan after seven frames, it took four Alabama relief pitchers to secure the final three innings of play. Freshman Luke Holman got the first crack at relief pitching but was replaced after allowing two hits and an earned run with no outs in return.

Senior RHP Hunter Hoops made the second relief appearance and looked solid, recording two strikeouts and no hits in his inning of work. Junior RHP Brayden Gainey took over for the ninth inning and allowed two hits through five batters

Senior outfielder Tommy Seidl raked in four RBI and three hits in a 3-for-4 career day for Harvard transfer. Junior infielder Zane Denton made sure his voice was heard as well and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two of those coming off of a first-inning home run.

The Tide moves to 10-5 on the year and will Binghamton in game two of their series on Saturday afternoon. The first pitch for game two is scheduled for 2 p.m. and game three will take place on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Following the weekend, UA will travel to Hattiesburg, MS, on Tuesday for a weekday meeting with Southern Miss at 6:00 p.m. Alabama's SEC schedule opens next Friday, March 18, as Florida makes the trip to Tuscaloosa for a three-game series.
