Bo Nix Claims Officials Wear Crimson Colored Glasses
In an appearance on The Next Round podcast, Auburn quarterback Bo Nix made some very bold claims in regard to how officials call games the Alabama Crimson Tide is involved in.
The junior quarterback, when asked whether he watched Bryce Young's record setting performance in the Tide's win over Arkansas, said, "Yeah, I did. I also saw Arkansas almost do the same thing. A few of those controversial calls that were in that game raise some questions for sure. Unless you're an Alabama fan."
Given the chance to clear up his insinuation, Nix opted to instead double down, saying, "I think, legitimately, if you watch the game, anybody unbiased will think something is different. But, it is what it is and that's how it's always been," Nix continued, "But not to take anything away from them, they have really good players."
Now, Nix is not the first person to bring this issue up, but is certainly one of the most surprising. As the Auburn quarterback for the last three seasons, Nix would be remiss if he were to forget about all of the Tigers' bail outs from the officials.
A YouTube video from user HoggyBones shows just how many "controversial calls" have gone in Auburn's favor in recent years. Take notice of how many of the clips feature a Nix led team.
Outside of the plethora of examples disproving Nix's claims, Alabama currently ranks as the fourth most penalized team in the conference. The Crimson Tide average almost 65 penalty yards per game, while Auburn sits at just 46.
Safe to say, Nix's claims are baseless and the Crimson Tide now have some excellent bulletin board material heading into the Iron Bowl.
Alabama makes the dreaded trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium this weekend, looking to avenge their last trip to the plains when Auburn pulled off a 48-45 upset, knocking the Tide out of College Football Playoff contention.
