The Alabama football team has taken a slower approach this season when it comes to recruiting, only accepting 7 verbal commitments compared to 10 verbal commitments at this point last season.

One of the reasons for the slower approach has been Alabama's desire to be more selective with players than in years past while also emphasizing those players attend one of Alabama's summer camps to allow the coaching staff to evaluate their targets in Tuscaloosa. While Alabama's recruiting has been slow up to this point, once some of the top high school talent makes its way to the Capstone, Rivals recruiting analyst Andrew Bone says you can expect that number to increase.

"I think its going to be a real big summer for them (Alabama). When these summer camps start and these guys get on campus they're going to try to lock them down and get ready for the season. I could see that number get into the high teens before the season starts...Most of the guys will be locked up by mid-season."

One of the positions Alabama coaches will closely monitor this summer is the quarterback position. The Crimson Tide have accepted commitments from at least one quarterback in every recruiting class under Nick Saban and Bone says this season there seems to be three main targets for Alabama's 2014 class.

"David Cornwell is a guy they've like for a long time, he's been recruited for a long time and the coaching staff has visited him twice this spring. He's also visited Tuscaloosa several times and a lot of people think he's the leader in the clubhouse.

Taylor Chryst is a guy out of California, his father Geep Chryst is the quarterbacks coach with the 49ers and his uncle, Paul Chryst is the head coach at Pittsburgh. He's narrowed his list down to 4: Alabama, Stanford, USC and Pittsburgh and he'll take his visits this summer.

Those are two guys really high on the board, but I think one of the biggest surprise guy this spring is Brandon Harris out of Louisiana...He's really exploded this spring."

Currently Rivals.com has Alabama rated as its 10th class in the country with 5 players being ranked as 4-stars.
