TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Veteran Alabama defensive back Bray Hubbard, one of the Crimson Tide's 2026 captains, has totaled 13 tackles and one interception through four games this season, but his 2026 start didn't come without blemish. The Tide's secondary struggled to stop a previously thought-to-be lackluster Florida State passing game, and the Gamecocks of South Carolina ran for over 200 yards, largely due to big plays by Matt Fuller and LaNorris Sellers, despite getting blown out 49-18.

In the Tide's big victory over the Gamecocks, Hubbard departed the game in the first quarter with what appeared to be a lower-body injury. He briefly spent time in the medical tent before heading back to the locker room, where he remained for much of the first quarter. In his absence, freshman safety Jireh Edwards stepped into the fold.

Hubbard returned to the game, finishing the night with four total tackles, including two solo. Hubbard told reporters during Tuesday's media availability that he avoided a significant injury and that he's ready to lead Alabama's secondary against a light-out quarterback for Mississippi State: Kamario Taylor.

"I feel great," Hubbard told reporters on Tuesday. "Just avoided an injury, so all thanks to the man above for sure for watching out for me, because it could have been bad. But you know, I'm as healthy as can be, just kind of a scare."

Hubbard came into the season with an injury on his right hand, which he has been playing through. When he returned during Saturday night's contest against the Gamecocks, Hubbard had a knee brace and a leg sleeve on his right leg.

No. 7 Alabama will travel to Starkville, Mississippi, for a date with the No. 16 Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday, October 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on ABC.
