Bryan Harsin Has One Word for Recruits, “Watch”
Auburn head coach Bryan Harsin took the stage at SEC Media Days on Thursday, and was open about his program's struggles on the recruiting trail this offseason.
As of now, the Tigers currently rank last in the SEC in recruiting and 74th in the nation for the 2023 cycle. Auburn has just four commitments in the class, all of which are four-star players.
While on the surface that may look like a disaster for the young regime, Harsin seemed unbothered. The second year head coach, when asked about what he would tell recruits, said simply, "Watch."
"We've told our recruits: watch," Harsin continued, "I think the ones that have been on our campus, they see the energy and the vibe, what's happening, how the players are responding, coaches are connecting, everything that we're doing."
"There'a a great energy in our program right now. There's alignment in our program right now. I know those recruits and families feel that when they step on campus."
Talking further on the subject, Harsin said, "Auburn sells itself. It's a beautiful campus. It's a phenomenal stadium (...) Everything about it is what you want to be a part of."
The Tigers' season kicks off on September 3 as Auburn takes on the Mercer Bears in the first of a five-game home stretch to open the year. The first true test for the Tigers comes just a few weeks later when Penn State comes to Lee County on September 17.
After a very tumultuous offseason, Harsin will need to put together a much better year than 2021 if he hopes to remain the head coach at Auburn.
