247Sports ranked Bryce Young as the best college football quarterback entering the 2022 season. He is one of eight SEC quarterbacks to be featured in the top 20 list, including KJ Jefferson, Hendon Hooker, Spencer Rattler, Will Rogers, Will Levis, Jaxson Dart and Anthony Richardson.

Young put together a prolific campaign in his first season as the starter in 2021. The former five-star prospect and No. 2 overall recruit in the 2020 recruiting cycle set the Alabama single-season record for passing yards (4,872) and touchdowns (47) and became the first quarterback in school history to win the Heisman trophy.

The Pasadena, Ca. native wasted no time introducing himself to the college football world. Young set the school record for most passing yards (344) and touchdowns (4) in his starting debut against Miami. He broke a 52-year school record for most passing yards in a single game against Arkansas.

Young orchestrated a 97-yard drive with 1:35 remaining and zero timeouts to send the game into overtime in the Iron Bowl. In the SEC Championship Game, Young had a performance for the ages, breaking the records for passing yards (421) and total yards (461).

The Alabama signal caller projects as one of the top prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. He could be the first Crimson Tide player to be the No. 1 overall pick since Joe Namath in the AFL draft in 1965.

From his innate leadership qualities to natural arm talent, Young has franchise quarterback written all over him. He throws the ball with incredible touch and anticipation that elevates those around him. With Jameson Williams, John Metchie and Slade Bolden off to the NFL, Young will be working with a new set of wide receivers in 2022.

Alabama landed two key acquisitions through the transfer portal in Jermaine Burton and Tyler Harrell, they book possess the ability to take the top off of a defense. Ja’Corey Brooks and Traeshon Holden appeared in all 15 games for the Crimson Tide in 2021. They give Young plenty of size and length on the outside. Sophomores JoJo Earle and Christian Leary have great speed of their own in the slot. Junior Thaiu Jones-Bell is also on the roster.

Freshman Kendrick Law, Aaron Anderson, Isaiah Bond and Kobe Prentice will all be vying for playing time.
