Budding Alabama Superstar SS Named Preseason All-American
Tuscaloosa, AL -- Early Tuesday, D1Baseball released their three preseason All-American teams, 24 days before the season's first pitch of the season is thrown.
Sophomore shortstop Justin Lebron, the lone member of the Crimson Tide to appear on any of the three teams, earned a spot on the preseason All-American second team.
Lebron enjoyed a breakout freshman campaign for the Crimson Tide last season.
Starting in all 57 games for the Crimson Tide, Lebron batted .356 over 222 at-bats, racking up nine doubles and 12 homers while driving in 40 runs.
Lebron also featured a steady glove at short throughout the season, boasting a .951 fielding percentage while making impressive throws with his arm.
Lebron's stellar freshman season earned him a first-team Freshman All-American nod from three outlets, first-team All-SEC SS, freshman All-SEC, and a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team.

Lebron is one of seven SEC players named to the second team, joining Texas A&M's 2B Wyatt Henseler, 3B Gavin Grahovac, South Carolina outfielder Ethan Petry, Arkansas starter Gabe Gaeckle, Oklahoma starter Kyson Witherspoon, and North Carolina reliever Matthew Matthijs.
While Alabama didn't make D1Baseball's initial top 25, the outlet still praised Rob Vaughn's squad, specifically Justin LeBron.
"The Tide has a solid nucleus of returning offensive players, with superstar shortstop Justin Lebron leading the way. At the same time, Rob Vaughn's club added a few solid transfers out of the portal, including hard-hitting Miami transfer Jason Torres and LSU transfer Brady Neal. Garrett Staton and Brennen Norton are two more powerful additions to watch after they combined for 32 homers and more than 100 RBIs last season for their respective teams." wrote D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers, "Zane Adams is a strong piece at the front end of the pitching staff, while junior righthanded pitcher Riley Quick, who is now healthy, is one to watch. [...] he's a massive arm with an ability to touch triple digits. [...] the upside is special with this group."
Alabama begins its season on February 14 at The Joe against Bradley.
