Caleb Woodson on What It’s Like to Play Defense For Alabama
TUSCALOOSA, Ala.-- Senior linebacker Caleb Woodson spoke with the media on Tuesday morning following the Crimson Tide's practice. Woodson was asked what it's like to play on this defense. Wood responded with "I'm having fun, I'm having fun playing football, but being on this defense, getting to make plays, I'm having a blast and trying to keep it going week to week."
Woodson is coming off a career game with 12 total tackles and two sacks, matching his season high in 2024 in just one game. Woodson spent three seasons at Virginia Tech before transferring to Alabama this spring. In two games with the Tide, Woodson has tallied 13 total tackles and two sacks. With 10 more games to play, Woodson has already stepped into a crucial role on defense, sharing the backfield with sophomore LB Luke Metz, who had the first pick-six of his career against Kentucky.
In his career, Woodson has tallied 164 total tackles, four sacks, an INT, and three PBU's. His best season came his sophomore year with the Hokies, where he totaled 72 tackles, two sacks and an INT. Woodson was named to the preseason Butkus Award watchlist ahead of the Tide's season opener and hopes to take the trophy home come December.
Alabama will face Florida State on Saturday at 2:30 pm CST in a revenge match from last season where Alabama lost 31-17 in Tallahassee.
