Virginia Tech Transfer Linebacker Caleb Woodson Commits to Alabama
Alabama adds its first defensive commit out of the transfer portal, with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports reporting that Virginia Tech linebacker transfer Caleb Woodson has committed to Alabama.

Woodson, a 6-foot-3, 230-pound linebacker originally from Haymarket, Virginia, has played three seasons for the Hokies and was ranked as a three-star safety prospect in the 2023 recruiting class. He was the No. 62 overall safety and the No. 18 player in Virginia.
During his three seasons at Virginia Tech, Woodson totaled 151 tackles, three pass breakups, two sacks, and one interception in 25 career games for the Hokies. As Virginia Tech's starting linebacker in 2025, he totaled 57 tackles and one pass breakup. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
Alabama bolsters its linebacker room with experience after losing its top three linebackers after the 2025 season, with Deontae Lawson, Justin Jefferson, and Nikhai Hill-Green all out of eligibility. The Tide returns key depth pieces at linebacker, but all are inexperienced.
Woodson marks the third commitment overall for the Crimson Tide in this transfer portal cycle, and the first defensive commitment for Alabama.
