Campbell, Lawson Named Butkus Semifinalists

Alabama's duo of star linebackers continue to earn accolades, with Denotae Lawson and Jihaad Campbell being named semifinalists for the Butkus Award, according to a release from the University of Alabama.

Lawson and Campbell have started every game for Alabama so far this season. Lawson is the leading tackler on the team, while Campbell is tied for the lead in tackles.

Lawson was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, awarded annually to the best linebacker in college football. Both were named to the preseason award watchlist in August, prior to the start of the season.

Chris Paul Jr. (Ole Miss)
Danny Stutsman (Oklahoma)
Anthony Hill Jr. (Texas)

Lawson is one of two returning semifinalists from last season, with Iowa linebacker Jay Higgins as the other.

Lawson has recorded 66 total tackles this season, two sacks, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble. Campbell co-leads Alabama in total tackles with 66 and is second on the team in sacks with 2.5. Campbell also has one pass breakup, one pick, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Recent draft analysts have both Lawson and Campbell listed as top-100 prospects in the 2025 NFL draft.
