Craig Young, the father of highly touted incoming freshman quarterback Bryce Young, joined Ryan Fowler on The Game. He joined Fowler to update the Crimson Tide fan base on what his son is up to in quarantine and to talk about his son's recruitment.

Young said his son is missing football but staying safe in California. Fowler asked him when his son originally became interested in Alabama and the elder Young said it began in the 10th grade.

Young's father explained to Fowler how stressful the recruiting process is for a high school student and stated that a young man's mind is not always prepared to make such a life-long and life-altering decision. He stated that coming to Tuscaloosa he and his son was able to see that the program was more that just a football power and the fact that the University of Alabama offered his son more than just football made him comfortable with joining the Crimson Tide.

Young said his son is very comfortable with the offense so far because some of Tua Tagovailoa's strengths are the same as his son's. He likes the route concepts and the RPO game that Tagovailoa excelled at the past two seasons. The elder Young said that offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian created a video displaying similar throws that Tagovailoa has made in this offense and throws that Young has made in high school.

Young said his son has gained quite a bit of weight, due in large part to the diet plan at the Crimson Tide athletic facility. Young said his son has gained in the neighborhood of 20-23 pounds mostly due to a regimented eating schedule. He said his son is eating a lot of steaks in quarantine, running up his household grocery bill.

During the quarantine Young said his son is able to exercise in their yard and was sent home with a workout plan and weight bands. There is also a gym that Young has access to where he is the only person in the gym to maintain social distancing. He still works out with his private quarterback coach as well to stay in shape.

Young said the workouts with David Ballou and Dr. Matt Rhea are very intense and much different than they were under Scott Cochran. He described the new coaches as having more of a research and scientific approach but also said his son likes the new coaches.

Young said that Nick Saban's ability to put players into the NFL was a factor in deciding to choose Alabama to play college football. He said that Saban's track record speaks to the talent that will be put around his son which will in turn showcase his son's talent.
