Dates and Kickoff Times Announced for Inaugural 12-team Playoff
The College Football Playoff released the dates, kickoff times, and TV details for the 2024-2025 playoff early Wednesday afternoon.
The first round will begin on Friday, December 20, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN. The first round will recommence on Saturday, December 21, with TNT airing the first two games at noon and 4 p.m. ET. ABC and ESPN will wrap up the final at 8 p.m. ET.
All four first-round matchups will occur at the higher seed's home stadium.
ESPN will televise the remaining seven playoff games, starting with the Fiesta Bowl at 7:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 31. The Peach Bowl will resume action on Wednesday, January 1, at 1 p.m. ET, followed by the Rose Bowl at 5 p.m. ET. The Sugar Bowl will wrap up the quarterfinal slate at 8:45 p.m. ET.
The semifinals will start with the Orange Bowl on Thursday, January 9, at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by the Cotton Bowl the next day at 7:30 p.m. ET.
To the dismay of many college football fans, the CFP National Championship game will take place on a Monday. The 2025 National Championship in Atlanta will air on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET.
Will Alabama get an opportunity to play in the inaugural 12-team CFP? Only time will tell.
