According to Nick Kelly of AL.com, Cosby remains in the hospital as of July 22. "Davin now faces a long and challenging road as he works toward returning to full strength and mobility," according to the GoFundMe page.

Cosby was a member of Alabama's 2023-24 men's basketball season, where his 15 points helped propel the Tide to a 103-88 victory over Ole Miss on the road. Cosby transferred to Wake Forest for the 2024-25 men's basketball season, where he averaged 5.6 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists on 35.1% shooting from the floor and 31.3% shooting from three-point range.

Cosby then transferred to Kennessaw State, where he was set to play for former Alabama basketball assistant coach Antoine Pettway.

The GoFundMe was shared on social media by Jessica Livingston, the mother of Wake Forest basketball player Hunter Sallis. Cosby and Sallis were teammates during the 2024-25 men's basketball season.
