DeBoer Confirms Alabama Safety Out for Season
On Monday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed that safety Keon Sabb would miss the remainder of the season with a foot injury he suffered in Alabama's 24-17 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers on October 19.
Sabb transferred to Alabama from Michigan following Jim Harbaugh's departure for the Los Angeles Chargers and started every game for Alabama prior to his departure in Knoxville.
DeBoer confirmed on Monday that Sabb would miss the rest of the year after having surgery,
"We expect him back and ready to roll for next year," DeBoer said. "I love what his commitment level has been to this team.”
Sabb started at free safety for the Crimson Tide in Alabama's first seven games of the season, where he totaled 24 total tackles, four pass breakups, two picks, and one tackle for loss for the Crimson Tide.
His replacement, bray Hubbard, is a second-year player from Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and has started all three games for Alabama since Sabb was injured. Hubbard has totaled 12 tackles, and two picks in three starts so far this season.
On the broadcast for Alabama and Tennessee, ESPN color commentator and former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy revealed Sabb had been playing with a broken foot in the Crimson Tide's loss to the Volunteers.
