DeBoer Shares Health Updates Entering Final Week of Camp

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer addressed the media on Monday morning following the Tide's 15th practice of fall camp, with Monday beginning the final week of camp before game preparation for East Carolina begins next week.

During his Monday press conference, DeBoer shared a handful of health updates on EJ Crowell and Lotzeir Brooks, who both missed last Thursday's scrimmage with injuries suffered during Fall camp. He also updated the status of NC State transfer wide receiver Noah Rogers, who had missed all of fall camp until Sunday with a lower-body injury he suffered during A-Day, and Jeremiah Beaman, who suffered an injury during Sunday morning's practice yesterday.

On Lotzeir Brooks

"Lotty is out there practicing, taking reps, close to full-go. He's been doing that for a few days now," DeBoer said.

Brooks is entering his sophomore season with the Crimson Tide after bursting onto the scene late as a true freshman in 2025. The New Jersey native posted 32 receptions for 441 yards and two touchdowns, both coming in the College Football Playoff against Oklahoma in December. It was a career day for Brooks, who hauled in 5 receptions for 79 yards and the two scores.

On EJ Crowell

"EJ is slowly progressing. I'm hopeful he'll be ready to roll for the first game. Can't say that definitively yet," DeBoer said. "He was out there, working in, progressing as we would expect."

The former five-star, Jackson, Alabama, native is now 0/5 on participating in scrimmages since arriving at Alabama in January. Despite the nagging injury concerns, Crowell is expected to be a key contributor to Alabama's run game when healthy after rushing for over 2,000 yards in his final year of high school football.

On Noah Rogers

"Noah's had the chance to get on the field the last few days, and going back to spring - the spring game, A-Day- when the injury happened. The timeline that he was on and what we expected, he's much ahead of that. That's a tribute to his mindset, his positivity from the time he was diagnosed; he was still up here, and just was not gonna let it deter him from continuing to move forward and make the most of every day he could. He's done that. Our team just celebrated him being back out here and moving around. He's not doing team drills or anything like that, but he's making a progression, and he's much ahead of schedule from what we originally thought."

Rogers transferred to Alabama from NC State this past offseason and had been working almost exclusively with the first-team offense prior to his A-Day injury. Rogers was spotted during practice on Sunday in photos distributed by the University of Alabama (above). In his two seasons at NC State, Rogers totaled 68 receptions for 919 yards and three touchdowns.

On Jeremiah Beaman, Who Suffered an Injury During Sunday's Practice

"Jeremiah did get hurt yesterday,” DeBoer said. “We have an idea of what the injury is. I would wait to comment on it until we get a further understanding, and that would probably be tomorrow.”

Beaman is entering year three with the Crimson Tide after only appearing in one game last season: the season opener at Florida State. Beaman tore his ACL during the following week of practice leading up to week 2 against ULM. The Birmingham, Alabama, native has posted two tackles in his career.

Alabama will return to the practice field on Tuesday, August 25, for the 16th practice of fall camp 2026. Alabama is scheduled to open the 2026 season at home against East Carolina on Saturday, September 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
