USC Transfer Defensive Lineman Devan Thompkins Commits to Alabama

Alabama picks up its third transfer portal commitment in two days and its fourth overall out of the transfer portal, with Hayes Fawcett of On3 Sports reporting that USC transfer defensive lineman Devan Thompkins has committed to the Crimson Tide.

Thimpkins is a 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman from Tracy, California, who just finished his redshirt sophomore season with the USC Trojans. Through two seasons in Los Angeles, Thompkins has totaled 55 tackles, nine tackles for loss, five pass breakups, 4.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. He's made 16 game appearances with six starts for the Trojans before 2025.

He signed with the Trojans as a member of their 2022 recruiting class, ranking as a three-star edge prospect, the No. 45 edge player in the class, and the No. 63 overall player in the state of California. In high school, he made the 2021 PrepStar All-Western Region team as a senior defensive end at Edison High School in Stockton, California. His uncle is Larry Grant, who played college football at City College of San Francisco (2005) and Ohio State (2006-2007) before playing in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers (2008, 2011-12), the St. Louis Rams (2008-10), the Chicago Bears (2013), and the Cleveland Browns (2013).

Thompkins is the fifth transfer portal commitment for the Crimson Tide:
