Does the SEC Have the Easiest Path to the College Football Playoff?

As the calendar turns to August, college football fans begin to see the college football season loom on the horizon.

For Alabama fans, the anticipation to see the Crimson Tide compete for a second consecutive national championship and what would be Saban's sixth in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama football has been a household staple in the national championship conversation as they have participated in each of the first four CFB Playoffs since its inception in 2014.

In the first four years of the CFB Playoff, the SEC and ACC have been the only two conferences to have a representative in each of the first four playoffs.

Various factors have gone into the playoff success of the two conferences including the recruiting prowess of programs like Alabama and Clemson along with Dabo Swinney's and Nick Saban's excellence in developing talent.

As the season inches closer to kicking off, one national college football analyst mentioned how easy the path is for one particular conference to reach the CFB Playoff in 2018.

Former Colorado quarterback and current Fox college football analyst Joel Klatt told Saturday Down South that he think the SEC has the easiest path to the College Football.

“I would not include the ACC. I would just say the SEC,” Klatt mentioned to Saturday Down South. “The SEC has, by a wide margin, the easiest path to the Playoff of any other conference.”

In his visit with Saturday Down South's Connor O'Gara, Klatt believes that the SEC's eight-game conference schedule does not necessarily provide as much of a stumbling block in comparison to conferences with nine-game conference slates such as the Big Ten.

The Fox college football analyst also provided his thoughts in the article regarding who he thinks is the best and deepest conference in college football and how he thinks the four-team playoff should be selected.
