Alabama Lands Commitment From Five-Star Quarterback Elijah Haven
Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide have added another quarterback to their 2027 recruiting class, with the No. 1 quarterback in the class, Elijah Haven, committing to Alabama over the Florida Gators, the Auburn Tigers, and the Georgia Bulldogs, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3.

Haven, a 6-foot-5, 220-pound quarterback from Dunham School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, has visited Alabama five times, all on unofficial visits. His most recent trip to Tuscaloosa came on January 31, 2026. He is ranked as a five-star prospect, the No. 11 overall, and No. 1 quarterback recruit in the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals' Industry Ranking.
He was named the Gatorade and MaxPreps Player of the Year in 2025 in Louisiana after leading Dunham to a 13-1 record, winning the Division III Select state title. He set records in touchdown passes (62) and total touchdowns (73) as a junior in 2025, passing for 3,931 yards on a 72.3% completion. He also added 794 yards and 11 scores on the ground. As a sophomore in 2024, he was named the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year, completing 60.7% of his passes for 3,093 yards and 37 touchdowns. He contributed 948 yards and 21 scores on the ground as a sophomore.
247 Sports' Director of Scouting, Andrew Ivins, wrote in his evaluation of Haven:
"Supersized quarterback that is going to have a chance to be the face of a franchise with his tools.
-Towers over others with a 6-foot-5 frame that’s already pushing 220 pounds.
-Showed noticeable growth as a passer during a junior campaign in which he set the Louisiana single-season record with 73 total touchdowns.
-Can distribute from the pocket or on the move.
-Utilizes a 3/4 release, but will also drop the elbow.
-Tends to throw with more touch, but can find velocity and put 2-balls on a rope.
-Rather confident under duress and can extend plays with his pocket awareness as he slips out of sacks and finds passing windows.
-Wants to win with his arm, but combination of power and agility make him a true rushing threat, especially down in the red zone.
-Must keep progressing as a decision-maker and improve timing, but the peaks are some of the best in recent cycles.
-Projects as a multi-year starter for a College Football Playoff hopeful with the physical gifts and attitude that everyone covets."
Haven is the fifth commitment for head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide in the 2027 recruiting class:
Elijah Haven: Five-Star QB
Trent Seaborn: Four-Star QB
Colt Lumpris: Three-Star TE
Avrian Pauley: Three-Star DL
Oakley Keegan: Three-Star TE
The Crimson Tide now has the 34th overall recruiting class, according to the 247 Sports Team Rankings. Alabama is just getting started on the 2027 recruiting trail, though, with official visit season starting in late May.
