ESPN’s Adam Amin Reflects on Alabama’s Win over Georgia [Audio]

Although four days have passed since Alabama’s triumph over Georgia in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the discussion of the game and its effect on the futures of Alabama, Georgia and the college football world as a whole will continue well into the off-season.

To close out the week, ESPN play-by-play broadcaster Adam Amin reflected on what he saw in Atlanta Monday night and analyzed Tua Tagovailoa’s impact on Alabama and college football on The Gary Harris Show.

All the way back in September, Amin was on the call of Alabama’s home opener against Fresno State when the true freshman from Hawaii received his first snap in a crimson and white uniform. The ESPN broadcaster looked back at that moment and what he initially thought of Tua’s potential in the 2017 season.

“We were talking about Tua and thinking, ‘Well, this kid is going to be a part of this team somehow, someway, and he was that day.’” Amin said “We figured at some point that this kid was going to play some meaningful snaps. I didn’t think that his first meaningful snaps would come in the second half of the national championship game trailing 13-0 at halftime.”

While lauding Tua for his impressive performance in the spotlight Monday night, Amin further reflected about the Hawaii native’s first game at the collegiate level.

“I’ll always remember that moment thinking, ‘Wow! We got to introduce him week 2 to the country.’ Most people didn’t know who Tua Tagovailoa was, and we got to talk about him make his collegiate debut and there he was, 17 weeks later,  winning the national championships in one of the more dramatic finishes we’ve had, I think, in a championship game in quite some time with the magnitude of a finish like that.” Amin said.

Later in the conversation, Amin addressed the relationship between Jalen Hurts and Tua, how the situation at quarterback played out over the course of the season, what is ahead in Tagovailoa’s journey as a collegiate quarterback and his future potential as a possible Heisman candidate.
