Bama in the NFL: Week Six Outlook
Week six is upon us and that means we are now a third of the way through this season! It is blowing by us so enjoy it while it lasts before another long offseason. Plenty of big games and great matchups to watch ex-Bama players ball out. Lets break them down.
Eagles at Giants (Thu. Oct. 9 - 7:15 p.m. ct):
Jalen Hurts (Eagles) - Coming off their first loss of the season, they look to bounce back against a young Giants team that is clearly inferior. Even though the Giants have been less than stellar, they have been tough and give opponents fits. Hurts should be able to run the ball better in this one, and if given time against this great pass rush, he should be able to push the ball downfield too. Divisional matchup to start the week means a great game.
DeVonta Smith (Eagles) - He had a great game last week and had his first 100+ yard game. Hurts and Smith will look to continue in their downfield chemistry against a gettable secondary. With Brown not getting many looks Smith looks to be the main guy in this receiving room as of now. Expect more big plays from Smitty.
Chargers at Dolphins (Sun. Oct. 12 - Noon ct):
Tua Tagovailoa (Dolphins) - Coming off a tough loss as well against the Panthers, Tua had his best game of the season so far and should continue with that momentum here in this matchup. The Chargers have a tough pass defense and are coming off a tough loss of their own. This is shaping up to be a great matchup between two great offenses. Tua should be able to make plays as long as they set up the run.
Jaylen Waddle (Dolphins) - Waddle had his best game of the season last week too in that tough loss against the Panthers. With Hill still out, he remains as the main down field threat. Waddle should have plenty of opportunities to move the chains.
Bengals at Packers (Sun. Oct. 12 - 3:25 p.m. ct):
Josh Jacobs (Packers) - A very gettable defense against the run, sets Jacobs up to have a great game. With Flacco now the man under center in Cincy, and having beat the Pack a few weeks ago with the Browns, this looks to be another great game. However, this Bengals defense is not near as good as what is in Cleveland. Jacobs should be able to have plenty of explosive runs and catches out of the backfield.
Notable players to watch:
Jahmyr Gibbs & Jameson Williams (Lions) - Sunday ends with a night game when the Lions head into Arrowhead to face the Chiefs. A tough run defense to face for Gibbs, but the Chiefs are not what they used to be. Look for Williams to have a bigger game as St. Brown will get most of the attention. Gibbs should be able to make plays here too, as long as he gets quite a few receptions.
Bryce Young (Panthers) - This looks to be a great matchup and one where Bryce looks to win back to back games. This Cowboys defense is not very good and gives up a ton on the ground. If they can establish the run it should set up things nicely for Bryce to hit his shots downfield.
That does it for the week six outlook. Check back Tuesday to see how these teams and players did in their matchups.
