Five-Star Basketball Transfer Being Welcomed in by Alabama
Nate Oats is preparing the Crimson Tide for their Sweet 16 matchup against six-seeded BYU this upcoming Thursday at 6:09 P.M. CT, while Alabama's assistant coach Preston Murphy has been tearing up the transfer portal. According to Adam Zagoria, the Tide are expected to receive a visit from Miami's transfer freshman guard Jalil Bethea soon.

Murphy has been contacted by multiple programs since entering the portal last Friday with teams like Kansas, Florida, Ohio State, and Memphis communicating their interest with the transfer guard.
The 6-foot-five,190-pound guard played high school ball at Archbishop Wood in Warminster, Pennsylvania, where the 5-star recruit, according to 247 Sports rankings, went on to be named as a Mcdonald's All-American in 2024.
Bethea had an up-and-down freshman season for Miami which saw the Pennsylvania native average 7.1 PPG, 2.1 RPG, and 1.2 APG on the season with him scoring double digits nine times this past season, despite the success these games the Freshman guard had trouble shooting efficiently from three and the field most of the season resulting in Bethea finishing the season shooting 32.6% from deep, and 36.8% from the floor.
With a system like Oats', which saw the Tide have two guards shoot over 35% from three this season: Chris Youngblood (39.0%) and Aden Holloway (41.7%), these are problems that can be straightened up.
This would be a big addition for the Tide, who will be losing two senior guards in Mark Sears and Youngblood, both of whom contribute significantly to Oats' system, with the two seniors combining for 28.7 points per game, as well as 5.0 assists per game from Sears.
Nate Oats and the Miami transfer guard are familiar with each other with the Crimson Tide being included in Bethea's top five before he ultimately chose Miami over Alabama, Kansas, Villanova, and Syracuse.
