Five-Star In-State RB Changes Commitment Date

While Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide's coaching staff went national with the Tide's 2025 recruiting class, Alabama is refocusing on the in-state prospects for the 2026 recruiting cycle, starting with one of the top-ranked running backs in the country.

Ezavier Crowell is ranked as a five-star according to On3 Sports and is the No. 2 running back in the 2026 recruiting cycle. He is the third-ranked player in the state of Alabama for the 2026 class.

Crowell visited the Crimson Tide for Alabama's A-Day practice, and the visit seemingly went well, with recruiting experts predicting the Crimson Tide to sign the five-star prospect from Jackson, Alabama.

A 5-foot-11, 205-pound prospect, Crowell is entering his senior season at Jackson High School. He reclassified from the 2027 recruiting class, where he was the No. 1 running back, to the 2026 recruiting class, foregoing his junior season of high school. Crowell helped Jackson claim the AHSAA 4A State Championship victory in December, where he scored on a 67-yard run on the Aggies' second play from scrimmage. He finished the game with 140 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Crowell had recently announced a commitment date of December 31.

That date has now changed, according to Crowell himself. The consensus thought is he is moving up his commitment date to after he takes his official visits.

The Crimson Tide, led by primary recruiter Robert Gillespie, sits in a good spot for one of the top prospects in Alabama. Crowell has visited Alabama eight times, and he has four official visits scheduled for the summer.

Florida State: June 15
Alabama: June 20
