Former Alabama baseball infielder Davis Heller has passed away at the age of 22.

"We are deeply saddened by the death of North Greenville University student-athlete Davis Heller, who died October 5 in his off-campus apartment. Although there is an ongoing investigation, initial indications are that he died of natural causes," said North Greenville University Athletics.

The Ariz., native played two seasons at the Capstone from 2021-22. During his time with the Tide, he had a .216 batting average, eight hits, one run batted in, drew eight walks, had a .356 on-base percentage, and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in the outfield.

Heller announced his decision to enter the transfer portal in May of 2022 and transferred to North Greenville University this offseason.

"We were all devastated to hear the news about Davis. He was an amazing young man and even better teammate. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Heller family during this difficult time.," said Alabama baseball head coach Brad Bohannon to BamaCentral's Joey Blackwell. 

According to North Greenville University, funeral arrangements are still pending.
