Former Alabama Defensive Lineman and Staffer Returns to Capstone
Former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive lineman and staffer Jake Long is returning to the Capstone.
"Former Alabama player Jake Long is returning to Alabama as a upper level defensive analyst with the “new yet to be named”DC. Long last played in 2016, then worked as GA/analyst with Jeremy Pruitt. He worked with Dan Lanning’s Oregon staff in 2022," tweeted The Next Round's Jim Dunaway.
The Ala., native was a walk-on lineman, who was on the Crimson Tide from 2013-16. After his playing career, he stayed with Alabama as a graduate assistant and analyst until his departure from the program in Jan. of 2022.
He spent last season with the Oregon Ducks as a defensive graduate assistant and coached inside linebackers.
Long is well-known for going viral on social media after being caught on camera celebrating Alabama's 41-24 victory over Georgia in the 2021 SEC Championship with his cheerleader girlfriend after fans mistook him for former Alabama defensive coordinator Pete Golding.
Long confirmed the news go his return on Twitter, tweeting "OldProfilePic" and "#WeBack."
