Former Alabama Forward Inks New Deal
Former Alabama forward Herb Jones is re-signing with the New Orleans Pelicans.
"ESPN Reporting with @_andrew_lopez: Free agent F Herb Jones has agreed on a new four-year, $54M deal to stay with the Pelicans, his agents Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller of @PrioritySportstell ESPN. Pels declined his option on a minimum salary to secure him long-term," tweeted senior NBA insider for ESPN Adrian Wojnarkowski.
The Ala., native spent four seasons at the Capstone (2017-21) before being drafted as the No. 35 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Pelicans.
Jones has become a consistent starter in New Orleans, starting in 135 of his 144 games played in the last two years. Last season, he averaged 9.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game.
Jones will continue to help an improving Pelicans squad.
