Former Atlanta Braves pitcher and one of the organization's top prospects just six years ago is dead at the age of 29.

Zach Klein of WSBTV first reported Hanson was in a coma Monday night.

There were no further details on what caused the health problems, but Hanson had been hospitalized since Sunday morning.

The young right-hander pitched four of his five Major League seasons in Atlanta, where he compiled 45 wins by the age of 26.

The Braves traded Hanson in November of 2012 to the Angels for reliever Jordan Walden. He would pitch just one season in Anaheim before becoming a free agent and never pitching again at the Major League level.
