Former Four-Star DL Enters Transfer Portal
The Crimson Tide continues to see movement in the transfer portal, the latest coming in the trenches. Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports reported that veteran defensive lineman Damon Payne Jr. is entering the transfer portal.
Zenitz also reported that an early school to watch for Payne is Michigan.
Payne was a highly touted four-star prospect coming out of high school in Belleville, Michigan. He signed with the Crimson Tide over Ohio State, Kentucky, Florida State, and Penn State as a member of the Crimson Tide's 2021 recruiting class.
Standing at 6-foot-4 and 315 pounds, Payne totaled 30 tackles and 0.5 sacks during his four-year career with the Crimson Tide.
Payne is the third defensive lineman to enter the transfer portal from Alabama, and the 14th player to depart the Crimson Tide's roster since the portal opened on December 9.
