Bryce Young had Steve Smith Sr. "salivating" over his throwing performance during Alabama's Pro Day.

The former Heisman winner sat down with former Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith Sr. and NFL Network's Mike Garafolo to discuss Young's NFL draft process.

During the interview, Smith Sr. began to praise Young.

"If you look at the stats, you are the most accurate and highest completion rate, so you understand throwing over the middle [...] your quiet, quick feet, the way you hold the ball, your quick release [...] I've seen bigger, more athletic quarterbacks, not be able to anticipate throws [...] While you have the heart and the desire to play [...] Just the way you were guiding the ball was remarkable. Just a wonderful, wonderful display of why you should be the first overall quarterback to be picked in this year's draft," said Smith.

Smith Sr. notably spent most of his career in Carolina, the team that recently traded up for the top selection and are in desperate need of a franchise quarterback.

The Utah alumnus also told Young "If you get drafted by the Carolina Panthers, I will immediately buy your jersey and hang it up in my mancave in Charlotte."

The Panthers also had dinner with Young Wednesday night, which included head coach Frank Reich, GM Scott Fitterer, and owners David & Nicole Tepper.

Young would be the Panthers second No. 1 overall selection in franchise history, the last time being in 2011 when the Panthers selected Cam Newton out of Auburn.

Whether or not Young will end up in Carolina will be a hot topic for the next five weeks, but there will already be one big name at his welcome party.
