Four-Star Defensive Lineman Commits to Crimson Tide
Four-star defensive lineman Edric Hill committed to the Crimson Tide on Monday evening.
He becomes the No. 21 commit for the Tide's class of 2023, adding defensive depth to the top recruiting class in the nation.
The North Kansas City, Mo., native recently moved up his commitment date which was expected to be in September after reportedly coming to a decision earlier than planned.
“It came down to relationships and how comfortable this coaching staff made me and my family feel. Me and my parents have relationships with the coaches, they have a plan for me, and my feeling about this school is different. I know where I want to go," said Hill to On3Sports about his decision.
The high school senior ranks at No. 183 nationally, No. 27 in defensive lineman, and No. 7 in the state of Mo., according to the 247Sports Composite.
"[He] has a stout, wide build the low center of gravity. Has explosiveness and quickness off the ball as well as pursuit speed which he has verified in a camp setting. Disruptive and gets up field in a hurry. Will get tall at times and give up his natural leverage advantage," said national recruiting analyst for 247Sports Allen Trieu. "Additional strength and technique should aid him in anchoring against the run. Athleticism allows him to be very projectable into multiple schemes. We expect him to play north of 300 pounds and still retain his quicks. Might need a year but has the tools to be a Power Five starter and have a shot to play beyond college."
Hill chose Alabama over major programs like Missouri, Oregon, LSU, USC, and Oklahoma.
