NORMAN, Okla. - Alabama walked into Norman, Oklahoma, facing similar distractions that it faced in its last true road game. Many counted out the Crimson Tide, which was struggling on offense over the last month of the season. The Tide's struggles on special teams and offense culminated in a 21-point defeat by the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC championship game.

Alabama's offense roared back to life in the second quarter of the first round of the College Football Playoff against the Oklahoma Sooners. After three straight three-and-outs, Alabama orchestrated multiple scoring drives, resulting in a 17-point comeback at the end of the first half, capped by a 50-yard pick-six from sophomore cornerback Zabien Brown (his second of the season).

In the second half, Alabama scored another 10 points before the Sooners stopped the bleeding with a quick-strike touchdown from Sooner quarterback John Mateer to wide receiver Deion Burks. Alabama responded with its own six-yard touchdown run by sophomore Daniel Hill, which gave Alabama enough cushion to no longer worry about Oklahoma coming back after the Tide erased the 17-point deficit and took a 10-point lead.
