What Did Garrett Nussmeier See from Ty Simpson at the Manning Academy?
Ty Simpson joined several other notable quarterbacks from across the country at the Manning Passing Academy in June, including LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier. Nussmeier is returning for his second year starting for the LSU Tigers, and his time at the Manning Academy gave him some insight into how the Tide's quarterback looked in Thibodaux, Louisiana.

"Yeah, I love Ty [Simpson]," Nussmeier said. "He can spin the football, you know. He's a really, really good player, and so I'm looking forward to watching him this season. I'm excited for him as well."
While Simpson is not the confirmed official starter for Alabama, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb has said multiple times that if Alabama had to play a game "tomorrow", that Ty Simpson would be the guy. Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said something similar to ESPN Sioux Falls during an interview last week.
"We've made it known that if we played a game at the end of this spring - even right now, because it really wouldn't change - we would have Ty as our quarterback," DeBoer told ESPN Sioux Falls.
Alabama opens the season in 37 days against Florida State in Tallahassee, Florida.
