Tanner Bailey, a class of 2022 quarterback from Gordo High School joined The Gary Harris Show today. Bailey came on the show to discuss his career so far and talk about receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Alabama. Bailey is 6-foot-1, 195 pounds, entering his junior season at Gordo but already has scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan and Mississippi State. As a sophomore Bailey passed for 2,309 yards and 23 touchdowns and as a freshman he threw for 1,447 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Bailey called receiving an offer from the Crimson Tide, "a blessing" and he told Harris he's, "thankful to have an opportunity."

The young quarterback spoke about focusing on gaining strength and size this offseason to resist contact better in the upcoming season. He said he's been on a strict diet and exercise plan since the discontinuation of baseball season.

Bailey's father, Lance, played quarterback for Auburn and his grandfather, Ken, played quarterback for the Crimson Tide under Bear Bryant. The Gordo quarterback grew up as an Auburn fan but described his future college choice as a business decision. He currently has an offer from Alabama but the Tigers have yet to extend him a scholarship offer.

Bailey called his father, his coach and mentor and expressed thankfulness for his dad's presence and experience as he guides him through his high school career and recruiting process.

He expressed disappointment over the 2020 baseball season being cancelled due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Bailey said he is planning for football this fall even in this uncertain time.

Bailey said he is planning on waiting as long as possible to commit to a college to ensure he gives the recruiting process enough time to play out and to focus on Gordo's season.
