Greg Byrne ‘Humbled and Honored’ to Take Over as Alabama AD

The Greg Byrne era at Alabama officially began today with the new director of athletics taking over for Bill Battle. 

The former Arizona athletic director was introduced at Alabama in January but he didn't step into the new position until March 1. Byrne brings a lot of experience and strong reviews to Tuscaloosa as he tries to continue building one of the nation's strongest athletic departments.

On Wednesday morning, Byrne released a statement about the new chapter in his life.

Byrne's presence on social media is a welcomed addition to the Alabama athletics department and already makes him more accessible to Crimson Tide fans.
