It's time for all Alabama Crimson Tide fans to wish one of their own a happy birthday. Today,  defensive lineman standout, Jaheim Oatis turns 20 years old.

According to On3 Recruiting, Oatis was a four-star recruit out of Columbia, Miss., and the 77th-ranked player out of the Class of 2022. The 6'4 defensive lineman chose to play for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide over schools like Ole Miss, LSU, and Tennessee.

Oatis came into Tuscaloosa as a 400-pound defensive lineman. He knew he needed to get faster to earn more playing time, and with the help of Dr. Amy Bragg, Director of Nutrition for the Alabama football team, Oatis went from 416 pounds to 370 pounds in one offseason.

The hard work and discipline paid off for Oatis as he was one of the standouts during Spring and Fall camp. In one season with the Crimson Tide, Oatis earned a starting job in the third game of the season against Louisiana-Monroe and recorded 27 total tackles, 10 solo tackles, and picked up a sack when the Tide played against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The emergence of Oatis has given Alabama fans a positive in what most people view as a disappointing year. Keep in mind, Oatis is only a freshman and he will likely continue improve as he gains more experience.
