Alabama's Herb Jones and the SEC's Player of the Year was named to the AP All-American Third Team. The senior adds another achievement to his historic season that has gained recognition by the entire nation entering the NCAA Tournament.

Jones was also the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, and this certainly has helped him get noticed by AP to honor him as an All-American. The fact Jones dominates on both sides of the floor establishes him as one of the country's best players. Jones has averaged 11.2 points per game, along with 6.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists. Not to mention he has won the beloved hard hat eighteen times that Alabama coach Nate Oats gives out after every game.

In the SEC Tournament, Jones provided a stellar performance averaging 14 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. Jones almost had a triple double in the first game vs. the Mississippi State Bulldogs, but fell short due to a blowout lead that had him on the bench to rest for the remainder of the tournament.

The senior is now apart of the All-SEC First Team and the AP All-American Third Team. Being apart of both shows how much respect other coaches, players and all of college basketball have for him. Jones has been more than a leader for this Alabama Crimson Tide team. He has changed the way Alabama basketball will be looked at for many years to come. The legacy he leaves behind will never be taken for granted by the Alabama and SEC basketball faithful.
