Alabama Schedules Visit with Top Transfer Portal Running Back
Alabama has already brought in one player via the transfer portal, with Oklahoma State transfer tight end Josh Ford committing to Alabama in December. Now, the Crimson Tide is looking to bolster its running back room via the portal.

According to Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports, NC State transfer running back Hollywood Smothers has scheduled a visit with Alabama.
Smothers is a 5-foot-11, 195-pound running back originally from Charlotte, North Carolina. He was ranked as a three-star running back coming out of West Charlotte High School and was the No. 21 overall player in the state of North Carolina.
Smothers started his collegiate career with the Oklahoma Sooners in 2023 before transferring to NC State before the 2024 season. In his career, he has carried the ball 260 times for 1,552 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also caught 57 receptions for 453 yards and three scores.
Smothers led the ACC in rushing during the 2025 season with 939 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry and 85 rushing yards per game for the Wolfpack. He is viewed as one of the top running backs currently available in the transfer portal.
Alabama lost reserve running back Richard Young earlier on Friday, with Young announcing his intentions to enter the transfer portal.
The transfer portal officially opened on Friday, January 2, and will remain open for 15 days.
