Next season, five schools will see new head coaches roam the sidelines across the Southeastern Conference.

While Florida lured Dan Mullen away from Mississippi State and Ole Miss made Matt Luke their permanent head coach, four schools in the Southeastern Conference are actively searching for new coaches.

One of those schools is the University of Arkansas. Arkansas dismissed Bret Bielema shortly after their loss to Missouri last Friday.

Bielema finished his tenure in Fayetteville with a record of 29-34 overall and 11-29 in SEC play.

One of the top names mentioned in the Razorbacks coaching search is Auburn coach and Arkansas native Gus Malzahn.

During his visit Inside the Locker Room, former Arkansas and Ole Miss football coach Nutt offered his opinion on the coaching search in Fayetteville including his thoughts on whether Malzahn is their top target.

“I think so. I think that’s who they’ll probably go after.” Nutt said.

Another name that is making the rounds is Memphis head football coach Mike Novell. In his second season with the Memphis Tigers, Norvell has an 18-6 record including a 10-1 mark this season and an upcoming appearance against UCF in the American Athletic Conference Championship Game.

“I don’t know. I heard his name early on last couple of weeks, but it’s been quiet.” Nutt said.

The former Razorbacks football coach talked about the biggest thing that Norvell could do to enhance his coaching resume.

“The best thing for him to do is win that (American Athletic Conference) championship. He’s in a big game this week and go win that one.” Nutt said.
